GILLES BÉDARD, FCGA

Gilles Bédard holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Université de Montréal's École des Hautes Études Commerciales. He started his career at Northern Electric, where he was comptroller until 1975. Afterwards and until 1982, he was Vice-President of Finance and then Vice-President and Executive Director of a large manufacturing company of doors and windows. He participated in the acquisition and financing of several companies. During the same period, he also taught on a part-time basis at the École des Hautes Études Commerciales and at the Université du Québec in Rouyn-Noranda. Since 1982, he has been an Assistant Auditor General at the Vérificateur général du Québec. In this capacity, he sits on various committees. He currently serves on several task forces of the Canadian Council of Legislative Auditors, namely the Health Study Group and the Strategic Issues Group (SIG). He is also a member of the Accounting Standards Oversight Council.
