CCAF is pleased to announce that Nicole Wieczorek has been appointed CCAF's Director of Training. A long-time CCAF employee, Nicole is also the Foundation's Director of Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer.
CCAF Executive Director Michael Eastman thanked Nicole for taking on this important responsibility. Nicole has proven herself to be a highly capable manager and an excellent ambassador for CCAF, he said. As CCAF re-enters the business of audit training, I am very pleased that this critical business line will be under her direction. Her experience in managing CCAF conferences will serve her well in her new role.
Nicole's appointment follows the successful completion of the second pilot offering of CCAF's new Fundamentals of Performance (Value for Money) Auditing course in Halifax during the week of December 4-8, 2006 (see group photo below). The course, first piloted in Ottawa the week of November 6-10, is in the final stages of development prior to its formal launch in 2007. A third pilot is scheduled for January 15-19, 2007 in Edmonton.

Bill Rafuse and Elaine Morash were the course instructors in Halifax. Bill is president of Rafuse Consulting and is a former Principal with the Office of the Auditor General of Canada. Elaine is Assistant Auditor General with the Office of the Auditor General of Nova Scotia. Elaine brings her extensive experience in value-for-money auditing, her participation on a number of committees and boards of the CICA and her long involvement with the CCAF and it's research to the table. Her previous teaching experience added to that brings a valuable resource to CCAF's training faculty and we are pleased to welcome her aboard.

CCAF would like to offer a warm word of thanks to KPMG for allowing us to use their Halifax offices for the pilot course. KPMG's Atlantic Region Managing Partner Doug Reid and his staff went above and beyond in making us feel at home in their offices. CCAF also extends thanks to Halifax-Fairview MLA Graham Steele who took time from his busy schedule to address participants about the role of politicians and Public Accounts Committees in the accountability cycle.
