The Institute of Internal Auditors-Canada has its first full-time executive director – Luc Lavoie, BAA, MBA, CGA.

Lavoie is a longtime IIA member with extensive experience in internal auditing and with such related issues as control frameworks, corporate governance, compliance, risk management, performance management, and strategic planning. He has been employed by a securities regulator and in several private sector organizations.

Lavoie will report to the IIA Global Headquarters President, Dave Richards and work closely with the recently-established IIA Canadian Council. The council, led by Olivier Lecat, includes members from various business sectors and geographic areas throughout Canada both in the public and private sectors and wants to be the voice of the internal audit profession in Canada and provide leadership for its growth and development. IIA-Canada is the international association's first regional office.

Membre de longue date de l'IIA, M. Lavoie possède une vaste expérience en vérification interne, ainsi qu'en cadres de contrôle, en gouvernance d'entreprise, en conformité, en gestion des risques et de la performance, et en planification stratégique. Il a travaillé au sein d'un organisme de réglementation en valeurs mobilières, ainsi qu'au sein de plusieurs organisations du secteur privé.

M. Lavoie relève du président du siège international de l'IIA, Dave Richards, et travaillera en étroite collaboration avec le Conseil canadien formé de représentants provenant de partout au Canada et de différents secteurs économiques, tant dans la fonction publique que dans le secteur privé. Ce conseil, dirigé par M. Olivier Lecat, établit les orientations d’IIA-Canada et veut être la voix de la profession de vérificateur interne au Canada et promouvoir sa croissance et son développement. IIA-Canada est le premier bureau régional de cet institut international.
