RON THOMPSON, ASSISTANT AUDITOR GENERAL OF CANADA
RECIPIENT OF 2006 “FRIENDS OF THE FELLOWS AWARD”
 We are very pleased to announce that on May 25th, 2006, during the CCAF's Graduation Ceremony for the participants of the International Assistance Program for Improved Governance and Accountability, commonly known as the International Fellowship Program (IFP), held at the National Arts Centre, Mr. Ron Thompson received the Friends of the Fellows Award for 2006. The award (a world globe) was presented to him by Mr. José Alpizar Fallas, participant from Costa Rica, on behalf of the 2005-06 class of “Fellows”. The recipient of the award is chosen by the “Fellows” themselves.
As Nick Hare, masters of ceremony for the event eloquently put it, “the current year class of Fellows is presenting this special award to an individual who has demonstrated a strong bond with, a tireless dedication to, and unwavering support for the IFP and its participants over many years through his professional and personal generosity, his hospitality and his genuine pursuit of excellence.”
Genuinely surprised and humbled, Ron Thompson thanked those who have worked with him to make the IFP such a special initiative within the OAG-Canada and also acknowledged the friendships developed over the years with many former “Fellows”. Sheila Fraser congratulated Ron on this award and noted that he is very deserving.
The 2005-06 class of the IFP saw 7 “Fellows” graduate from the Canadian component of the program, from Benin (Benoît Azodjilande and David Sohinto), Cameroon (Pauline Kane Fortune), Costa Rica (José Alpizar Fallas), Tanzania (Grace Mugyabuso and James Ryoba) and Thailand (Sirin Phankasm).

LAURÉAT DU PRIX AMIS DES BOURSIERS 2006
Nous sommes très heureux d'annoncer que le 25 mai 2006, à l'occasion de la cérémonie de remise des diplômes tenue au Centre national des arts dans le cadre du Programme international d'aide à l'amélioration de la gouvernance et de la reddition de comptes - couramment appelé le Programme international de bourses d'études (PIBÉ) -, M. Ron Thompson a reçu le Prix Amis des boursiers. Ce prix (un globe terrestre) lui a été remis par M. José Alpizar Fallas, boursier du Costa Rica, au nom des participants de la promotion 2005-2006. Ce sont les boursiers qui choisissent le récipiendaire de ce Prix Amis.
Le maître de cérémonie Nick Hare a précisé que la promotion de cette année présente ce prix spécial à un individu qui a su développer une étroite relation avec les boursiers, faire preuve d'un dévouement inlassable et apporter un soutien indéfectible au PIBÉ et à ses participants au cours des nombreuses années par sa générosité tant sur le plan professionnel que personnel, son accueil chaleureux et sa quête d'excellence.
Visiblement surpris et ému, Ron Thompson a remercié tous ceux et celles qui ont travaillé avec lui pour faire du PIBÉ un franc succès au sein du BVG-Canada, et a  souligné les nombreux liens d'amitié tissés au fil des années avec les anciens boursiers. Mme Sheila Fraser a félicité M. Thompson pour ce prix bien mérité.
