MANFRED KUHNAPFEL, DIRECTOR AT THE OFFICE OF THE AUDITOR GENERAL OF CANADA
RECIPIENT OF 2007 “FRIENDS OF THE FELLOWS AWARD”
 We are very pleased to announce that on May 23rd, 2007, during the CCAF's Graduation Ceremony for the participants of the International Assistance Program for Improved Governance and Accountability, commonly known as the International Fellowship Program (IFP), held at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Mr. Manfred Kuhnapfel received the Friends of the Fellows Award for 2007. The award (a world globe) was presented to him (and his spouse, Patricia) by Mr. George Chabby Haule, participant from Tanzania, on behalf of the 2006-07 class of “Fellows”. The recipient of the award is chosen by the “Fellows” themselves.
As Nick Hare, Chair of CCAF's International Committee and masters of ceremony for the event eloquently put it, “this year's recipient is very deserving indeed – A special person who has demonstrated a strong bond with, a tireless dedication to, and unwavering support for this program and its participants over many years. Both he and his spouse, Patricia, continue to care so much for this program and its Fellows.”
Ms. Sheila Fraser, the Auditor General of Canada, a strong supporter of the International Program, also congratulated Manfred, noting that “he and his spouse, Patricia, have gone beyond the call of duty to make the “Fellows” feel welcome while in Canada by opening their home and sharing their time with them.” She also reminded the audience that “It's not easy to be away from family and friends for such a long period of time. I know the “Fellows” were truly touched by your generous hospitality and we all thank you for that. I think both of you truly deserve to be called “friends of the fellows”.
Genuinely moved by this recognition, Manfred reminisced over the more than 20 years involvement with the CCAF's International Program. Both he and Patricia expressed their deep appreciation to those in attendance for the best wishes conveyed, and thanked the CCAF, the Office of the Auditor General of Canada and the other program partners for the opportunity to be involved in such a rewarding Program.
The 2006-07 class of the IFP saw 4 “Fellows” graduate from the Canadian component of the program, from Cameroon (Mrs. Laurentine NGWU), Mali (Mr. Sikoro Keita), Tanzania (Mr. George Haule) and Thailand (Ms. Sirikanchana Karikanchana)..

LAURÉAT DU PRIX AMIS DES BOURSIERS 2007
Nous sommes très heureux d'annoncer que le 23 mai 2007, à l'occasion de la cérémonie de remise des diplômes tenue au Centre national des arts à Ottawa dans le cadre du Programme international d'aide à l'amélioration de la gouvernance et de la reddition de comptes – couramment appelé le Programme international de bourses d'études (PIBÉ) –, M. Manfred Kuhnapfel a reçu le Prix Amis des boursiers. Ce prix (un globe terrestre) lui a été remis (à lui et à sa conjointe Patricia) par M. George Chabby Haule, boursier de la Tanzanie, au nom des participants de la promotion 2006-2007. Ce sont les boursiers qui choisissent le récipiendaire de ce Prix Amis.
Le maître de cérémonie Nick Hare, qui assure aussi la présidence du Comité international de la CCAF-FCVI, a tenu à préciser que le récipiendaire du prix de cette année est des plus méritants. Il s'agit d'une personne spéciale qui a démontré beaucoup d'intérêt, un dévouement inlassable et un appui inébranlable pour ce programme et ses participants au fil des années. Tous deux, M. Kuhnapfel et son épouse, Patricia, tiennent beaucoup au succès de ce programme et des boursiers.
Mme Sheila Fraser, vérificatrice générale du Canada, dont le bureau est l'un des partenaires du Programme, a félicité M. Kuhnapfel, et mentionné que lui et sa conjointe, Patricia, ont passé du temps avec les boursiers et les ont accueillis chez eux pendant leur stage au Canada. Elle a rappelé à l'auditoire qu'il n'est pas facile d'être loin de sa famille et de ses amis pour de longues périodes de temps. Elle a ajouté qu'elle sait que les boursiers ont été très touchés par la générosité de M. Kuhnapfel, et elle a tenu à remercier celui-ci pour son dévouement. En terminant, elle a dit qu'elle croyait fermement que M. Kuhnapfel et sa conjointe méritaient tous deux d'être appelés « amis des boursiers ».
 Visiblement ému, M. Kuhnapfel a évoqué divers moments spéciaux qu'il a vécus au cours de ses plus de 20 ans passé avec le Programme international de la CCAF-FCVI. Lui et Patricia ont remercié chaleureusement les participants pour les bons vœux reçus, ainsi que la CCAF-FCVI, le Bureau du vérificateur général du Canada et les autres partenaires du Programme pour l'occasion de participer à un programme aussi enrichissant.
Voici les quatre boursiers de la promotion 2006-2007 : Mme Laurentine Ngwu (Cameroun), M. Sikoro Keita (Mali), M. George Haule (Tanzanie) et Mme Sirikanchana Karikanchana (Thaïlande).
