Melhorn given added duties in NWT
Margaret Melhorn, the Deputy Minister of Finance of the Government of the Northwest Territories, has been appointed Deputy Minister of the Financial Management Board Secretariat, Secretary of the Financial Management Board and Comptroller General.
As Secretary of the Financial Management Board/Comptroller General, Ms. Melhorn will also Chair the government's Audit Committee.
Ms. Melhorn has been Deputy Minister of Finance since 1997. She joined the Government of the Northwest Territories in 1983, working with the Financial Management Board Secretariat and then the Department of Finance. She began her public service career with Alberta Treasury.
Ms. Melhorn has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and History from Carleton University and a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Alberta.

Margaret Melhorn, sous-ministre des Finances du gouvernement des Territoires du Nord-Ouest, a été nommée sous-ministre du Secrétariat du Conseil de gestion financière, secrétaire du Conseil de gestion financière et contrôleuse générale.
En qualité de secrétaire du Conseil de gestion financière et de contrôleuse générale, Mme Melhorn assurera également la direction du comité de vérification.
Mme Melhorn occupait le poste de sous-ministre des Finances depuis 1997. Elle a commencé sa carrière au sein du gouvernement des Territoires du Nord-Ouest en 1983, œuvrant d'abord au Secrétariat du Conseil de gestion financière et ensuite au ministère des Finances. Son parcours dans le secteur public a débuté au Alberta Treasury.
Mme Melhorn possède un baccalauréat ès arts en économie et en histoire de l'Université Carleton et une maîtrise ès arts en économie de l'Université de l'Alberta.
