Bill Matthews appointed Assistant Comptroller General of Canada

Bill Matthews has been appointed Assistant Comptroller General, Financial Management and Analysis Sector, Office of the Comptroller General (OCG) of Canada.   In his new position, he is responsible for the Government of Canada's financial management, costing and accounting policies.

Mr. Matthews joined the OCG in 2004 as Senior Director, Government Accounting Policy and Reporting, and was later promoted to Executive Director. In December 2008, he participated in Leadership Across Borders, an international leadership development program involving top public sector executives from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Prior to joining the federal government, Mr. Matthews was an associate partner with IBM, formerly PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting.  He is a chartered accountant with a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University.

Bill Matthews a été nommé contrôleur général adjoint, Secteur de la gestion financière et de l’analyse financière, au Bureau du Contrôleur général (BCG) du Canada. Dans son nouveau poste, il est responsable des politiques du gouvernement du Canada concernant la gestion financière, l’établissement des coûts et la comptabilité.

M. Matthews est arrivé au BCG en 2004 à titre de directeur principal, Politique comptable et rapports du gouvernement, et il a plus tard été promu directeur exécutif. En décembre 2008, il a participé au programme international de perfectionnement des dirigeants appelé « Leadership sans frontières » qui s’adresse à des cadres supérieurs du secteur public de l’Australie, du Canada, de la Nouvelle-Zélande et du Royaume-Uni.

Avant d’entrer au service du gouvernement fédéral, M. Matthews était partenaire associé chez IBM, qui s’appelait autrefois PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting. Il est comptable agréé et possède un baccalauréat en commerce de l’Université Dalhousie.
