Baker, Monette, Wiersema join CCAF Board of Governors
Douglas Baker, FCA, Chair of the Board of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, and Rod Monette, Comptroller General of Canada, were elected to the CCAF Board of Governors at the Foundation's October 6, 2008 Annual General Meeting. Deputy Auditor General of Canada John Wiersema joined the Board in early December replacing Richard Smith who is retiring.

Douglas Baker, who is from Calgary, has more than 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He was CFO and co-founder of Forte Oil Corporation, and during his career has served as Vice-President and CFO of Valiant Energy Inc., Territorial Resources Inc., Chancellor Energy Resources Inc., American Eagle Petroleum Ltd. and Canadian Conquest Exploration Inc.
Mr. Baker has been a chartered accountant since 1977, and was named a Fellow of Chartered Accountants in 1996. He was Vice-Chair of CICA's Board from 2006-2008, and served as President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta in 2003. A graduate of the University of Saskatchewan, he was a Manager and Staff Accountant with Deloitte, Haskins and Sells from 1975 to 1983.

Il a été le chef des services financiers et cofondateur de la Forte Oil Corporation, puis au cours de sa carrière, il a assuré les fonctions de vice-président et chef des services financiers des sociétés suivantes : Valiant Energy Inc., Territorial Resources Inc., Chancellor Energy Resources Inc., American Eagle Petroleum Ltd. et Canadian Conquest Exploration Inc.
Il a obtenu le titre de comptable agréé en 1977 et celui de FCA en 1996. Il a assuré la vice-présidence du conseil de l'ICCA de 2006 à 2008, et la présidence du Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta en 2003. Diplômé de l'Université de la Saskatchewan, il a travaillé chez Deloitte, Haskins and Sells de 1975 à 1983 aux postes de chef de mission adjoint et de chef de mission.

Rod Monette is a chartered accountant with a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Ottawa and a Bachelor of Science from Carleton University. He started his public service career in the Office of the Comptroller General (OCG) in 1981, after several years with a major chartered accountants firm. He subsequently worked for a number of federal departments and agencies in Ottawa and western Canada.
In 2000-2001, Mr. Monette served as Assistant Comptroller General and Assistant Secretary, Financial Management Policy, Expenditure Analysis and Operations Sectors, Treasury Board Secretariat. He was with the Department of National Defence between 2002 and 2007, and then returned to the OCG, where he was appointed Comptroller General in May 2008.

M. Monette est comptable agréé et titulaire d'une maîtrise en administration des affaires de l'Université d'Ottawa et d'un baccalauréat ès sciences de l'Université de Carleton. Il fait son entrée au Bureau du contrôleur général (BCG) du Canada en 1981, après plusieurs années de travail dans un grand cabinet d'experts-comptables. Il est par la suite affecté à différents ministères et organismes fédéraux à Ottawa et dans l'Ouest canadien.
En 2000-2001, il est nommé contrôleur général adjoint et secrétaire adjoint du Secteur de la politique de gestion financière et d'analyse au Secrétariat du Conseil du Trésor. Et de 2002 à 2007, il travaille au ministère de la Défense nationale, où il accède au poste de sous-ministre déléguée de la Défense nationale juste avant de retourner au BCG, où il est nommé contrôleur général en mai 2008.

John Wiersema has been with the Office of the Auditor General of Canada for 30 years, and was appointed Deputy Auditor General in 2004. He is involved in the overall management of the Office, in strategic issues, and in issues that have not been resolved through the established processes.
A chartered accountant and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, Mr. Wiersema is vice-chair of the Public Sector Accounting Board of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. He has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University.

John Wiersema est au Bureau du vérificateur général du Canada depuis 30 ans, et a été nommé sous-vérificateur général en 2004. Il participe à la gestion générale du bureau, aux enjeux stratégiques, et aux dossiers qui n'ont pu être résolus par des processus établis.
Comptable agréé et FCA de l'Institut des comptables agréés de l'Ontario, M. Wiersema assure la vice-présidence du Conseil sur la comptabilité dans le secteur public de l'Institut Canadien des Comptables Agréés. Il détient un baccalauréat en commerce de l'Université Carleton.

Other Board Developments
Re-elected to the CCAF Board at the AGM were Gilles Bédard, Philip Howell and Richard Smith. The Board is in the process of transitioning to staggered three-year terms, with a maximum of two consecutive terms.
Following the AGM, CCAF Chair Michael McLaughlin thanked Alain Benedetti, who has completed his term on the Board, for his service to CCAF. Mr. Benedetti was Chair of the CICA Board from 2006 to 2008.
Mr. McLaughlin also thanks Richard Smith for his service with the Board and wishes him well as he begins his retirement. Mr. Smith retires on December 31st, 2008 as Assistant Auditor General of Canada.

Autres nouvelles concernant le Conseil
Les administrateurs suivants ont été ré-élus : Gilles Bédard, Philip Howell et Richard Smith. La CCAF-FCVI est dans une période de transition à l'égard de la mise en place de son conseil d'administration renouvelable par tranches, soit un échelonnement des mandats de trois ans des administrateurs, avec une limite de deux mandats consécutifs.
À la fin de l'AGA, le président du conseil Michael McLaughlin a remercié Alain Benedetti, qui a terminé son mandat au conseil, pour les services rendus à la CCAF-FCVI. M. Benedetti a assuré la présidence du conseil de l'ICCA de 2006 à 2008.
M. McLaughlin a également remercié Richard Smith pour les services qu'il a rendus au conseil et lui a offert des bons vœux pour sa retraite. M. Smith se retire de son poste de vérificateur général adjoint le 31 décembre 2008.
